PG College, Shivpuri, Madya Pradesh, India; email: vishwambhars@yahoo.co.uk Abstract Tourism Development in Uttranchal: The Emerging Vistas Tourism as an industry is spreading widely in the world and it is becoming the major source of foreign currency. In Uttramchal state, it has an impressive position, in terms of earning income. Diversity in culture, custom, fauna and climatic conditions present the truth of unity in diversity in Uttranchal. On account of mode of tourism, there are various type of tourism practiced in Uttranchal and they are discussed widely, such as, trekking, mountaineering, river rafting, skiing, boating etc. The world highest skiing point Auli is located here. Presently, the trend of tourism is accelerating. Tourist places have been divided according to their nature, i.e., natural, cultural and wild life. Accordingly, Uttranchal has been divided into tourist circuits. The economic development of the region, through this practice has also been discussed. An effort has been made to discuss on the future prospects of tourism and formulation of planning. Primary and secondary data have been collected from the different sources. The data have been collected to interpretate the flow of tourists and income earned from their interaction. Carrying capacity of the two tourist places, Nainital and Badrinath have been discussed with its negative and positive impacts. Infrastructural facilities have been discussed along with the factors affecting the development of tourism in Uttranchal. Present paper aims to evaluate the present trend of tourism development.
