Abstract 1: Thermal insulation of traditional housing in mountain areas.

Practical and low-cost examples of a research and implementation project in the Northern Pakistan Himalayas (1999) Designs for existing housing and new housing in a mountain area with very limited access to wood. An advice is given for similar solutions in the Himalays of Nepal, taking traditional architecture and earthquake engineering problems into consideration. Effectiveness and possible cost of each thermal insulation is discussed.

Abstract 2: Improved cooking stoves for high altitudes, a project activity in the Northern Pakistan Himalayas (1999)

The several tested designs are presented and the reaction of the people. Includes a set of technical drawings for manufacturing.

Abstract 3: Advice on the "beehive" charcoal briquette stove in the Kumjung region, Nepal.

Analysis of the current beehive charcoal briquette product with recommendations for improvement (2002).
